Introduction:
It is a test for high school graduates who wish to continue their studies in higher education institutions. It measures a number of abilities related to the learning process, such as the student’s analytical ability and inferential ability, in two parts: one is verbal (linguistic) and the other is quantitative (mathematical)
>Scale
The test measures analytical and inferential abilities, ie it focuses on knowledge of learnability regardless of one’s own proficiency in a particular topic. It is presented in Arabic.
(The weight given to the general aptitude test in admission is estimated by universities, and may vary from one university to another, but the weight often ranges between 30% and 40%, and the rest is for the high school percentage and the achievement test if it is conditional)
Test Objective:
Measuring the student’s analytical and inferential ability, and knowing the student’s ability to learn, by measuring:
- Ability to understand reading.
- Ability to understand logical relationships.
- Ability to solve problems based on basic mathematical concepts.
- Ability to Conclusion.
- Ability to measure.
Its Sections:
The test is divided into two parts: the (verbal) part and the (quantitative) part.
First: Verbal part:
- Reading comprehension: which is understanding reading texts and being able to analyze them, by answering questions related to the content of these texts.
- Sentence completion: These are questions with short, incomplete texts, and they depend on understanding them and deducing what you need. It has complements to form useful sentences.
- Verbal analogy: His questions are related to understanding the relationship between a pair of words at the beginning of the question, and measuring them against counterparts given in the choices, one of which is similar to what was stated at the beginning of the question.
- Contextual error: These are questions of a nature that focus on understanding the general meaning of the sentence, then identifying the word whose meaning does not match the context of the general meaning. Different choice. Or distinguishing the most closely related relationship among the choices, and linking it to what was stated in the question.
Second: The quantitative part:
Includes mathematical question types suitable for aptitude test (according to the specialization in high school: (scientific or literary) and focuses on measurement, inference and problem solving, and needs simple basic information.
The questions for the scientific disciplines are roughly distributed according to the following:
- %36 Math Questions
- %18 Engineering Questions
- %10 Algebra Questions
- %18 Analytical and Statistical Questions
- %18 Comparison Questions
As for the literary majors test, it includes questions that include the basics of arithmetic, geometry, and analysis, which are less than those in scientific disciplines.
Other information:
- The test in its two parts (verbal and quantitative) includes a number of experimental questions, but they are not counted in the score obtained by the student.
- The questions are presented alternately between the verbal and quantitative parts in sections, each of which is assigned 25 Min.
- The number of questions is constant on all exams over the years, as are their divisions and the time allotted to each section. As for the questions themselves, they differ from one test to another, and it remains that there is a uniform level of difficulty that is maintained between these tests.
- The center balances the results of each test with the results of the previous tests before monitoring the results; In order to standardize and test reliability.
- Questions are arranged in order of difficulty, from easiest to most difficult in each section of the test. The student must answer all of the questions in the specified time, for each section (25 minutes) and as quickly as possible to pass all of them.
The student should not miss an opportunity by leaving some questions unanswered.
The student is advised, if he does not know the correct answer for sure, to guess the correct answer after excluding the options that are not likely to be correct.
